{this moment} - a Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment i want to pause, savor and remember ~ Amanda Soule.

home tour

So i promised you something different, yes? Well, i suppose i promised myself something different. Let’s get it straight.  I’d like to start a new feature on this blog--a home tour feature if you will. A little peek into someone else's home, capturing their surroundings. Something different...rooms that reveal that a real person lives there, with their own tastes and fancies. Rooms that boast an effort that’s been made to go beyond the ordinary white/beige show homes, and to create a space for themselves that is all their own. Design that happens sometimes out of necessity and sometimes out of pure frivolity. Proof that people don’t live like magazines. Admittedly though i am a sucker for looking at design magazines, but i love it when the “rules” are broken and people just go with their instinct and with what they love. So let’s have at it, shall we?

I want to introduce you to snippets of a friend of mine’s house, let’s call her J for short shall we? I was recently house sitting for her and became inspired to begin this blog feature as i walked from room to room, watering the plants.

This girl's got class, no? I love it when people become fearless with using color on their walls, and this place is a true example of that. Hope you enjoyed the tour!

Harvest

So, seriously, i’m not doing such a hot job creating the kind of blog i set out to in the first place. The whole purpose of this blog was to be a sort of personal journal of artistic doings, creative happenings, with perhaps sprinkles of food creations, handmade, DIY and other random inspirational/colorful type things. Instead, food seems to be the main focus just now, with hardly a sprinkle of art. I seem to have been avoiding doing anything close to painting, and have been consumed by (and am consuming) food food and more food. It is August after all, the season of harvest. And that is what has been happening again today. This is my small harvest from today:

This last picture? Shallots. yup. I missed the onion train this year--there were no onions to be found for planting when i decided to plant my garden, only shallots. The recipe for my beet salad i made for supper today called for shallots, and darn it, i've got them.

Soooo, in an effort to move things away from the food aspect of my life, i promise to myself that the next post will contain something completely different!
